Facing business decisions and organizational issues can be challenging, but you don’t have to go it alone. We belong to an amazing community of readers: people who own businesses, head community efforts, direct non-profits and who lead our communities when tackling tough issues. The great thing about this community is that they read to learn how to be a better person in business and life. And they are quick to share that knowledge by recommending a book that that helped them when facing a landmark decision in their business, or in shaping how they approach things like relationships, leadership or dedication. We created the Landmark Library to share those books with you.
In the Landmark Library, we will regularly highlight a book recommended by a friend who found the subject to be extremely helpful in the life of their company, or that helped them become a better version of themselves. As we highlight these individuals and their selected book, we’re happy to share a free copy of the book with you. All you have to do is ask.
Our current selection: “Rework” by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson
Our current recommendation comes from Jake Schopp, Partner at iCON architecture + fabrication. Jake says, “Some books develop one idea over the entire book. Rework has very short chapters, almost vignettes, that pose questions and challenge assumptions related to owning a business. Some may not apply to you, but I bet others really cause you to think.”
Authors Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, founders of the software company 37signals (now Basecamp), have written a playbook of short chapters with straightforward language and counterintuitive ideas that will inspire and provoke you, and make you think differently about work.
